I hope this year you’ve set goals that you are so excited about and maybe even make you a little bit scared!
Creating habits that you do daily will help you form a sturdy foundation from which you can feel grounded while you reach out and take risks.
5 habits that will help you conquer 2017:
- Your morning routine.
The way you start and end your day is so important! Your morning routine will have a huge impact on the success of your day. Give yourself enough time to rise slowly, have a large glass of lemon water, try to fit in 20-30 minutes of exercise and have a nutritious breakfast. Easing into your day versus rushing around will dramatically reduce your stress level and get you in a state-of-mind that’s ready to take on whatever comes your way. - Visualization.
It is proven that visualization is one of the most powerful tools we can use to make things happen in our life. If you’ve never made a vision board before, this is the perfect time to do so. Your vision board can include things that you want in your life as small as daily routine things and as big as your life’s wildest dreams; don’t hold back! - Minimalism.
You’ve heard the saying, “less is more”… well it’s absolutely true. External clutter leads to mental clutter and internal distraction. Having piles of un-necessary items in your home or office will only cause extra stress and feelings of being overwhelmed. Do a clean sweep and get rid of everything that no longer serves you or that you are not using. By the end of it, you will feel lighter and more clear. - Nutrition & Hydration.
How many of you work through lunch? Skip breakfast? Do drive-thru at least once a day? You are not alone. Proper nutrition and hydration are SO key to your health and success. You have got to keep your body and brain fuelled with high-energy fuels to achieve high-energy performance. Focus on whole unprocessed foods, eating 6 small meals a day versus 2-3 big ones and drink your water! A quick calculation of how much water you should be drinking is: take your body weight in pounds, multiply by 2/3, that number in ounces is your minimum. (ex: 175 lbs x 2/3 = 117 ounces/day) - Become an early bird.
For most of my life I’ve been an early riser, but since I’ve started Health Coaching, I’m beginning to realize that this is not the case for most others. The early hours of the day are my absolute favourite and a time that I get most of my important work done. I answer emails, create my social posts, schedule meetings and write my blog contributions before anyone else is even awake! For me, there is no better feeling knowing that for the rest of the day I’ve got everything critical handled! I’m armed and ready
for the day. Want to know more about how I do this? I will be getting more specific on this topic next month, stay tuned.
Take it one habit at a time. Conquering one per month is a perfect way to start without feeling overwhelmed.
Remember, what you focus on expands, so dream BIG and begin creating a life you LOVE.
