Fatty acids that cannot be synthesized in the body, and that must be present in the diet for health. They can come from food or supplement form.
- Essential because the body needs them to function properly but can’t create them. They are sourced from our diet.
- Omegas 3 & 6, essential for immune system function, is needed in our diet daily
- Omega 6 (found in vegetable oils, as well as evening primrose oil and borage oil) is more prevalent in our diet, and many of us need to supplement with Omega 3 (found in cold water fish, flax seeds, and hemp hearts)
- Omegas 7 & 9 are healthy forms of fat but not essential.
